Classes

Check out this great bird that one of our students handbuilt and fired in Raku class.

Last Wednesday was our last Raku class for this winter.  The students did some horsehair pots which all came out great. They love doing the horsehair firing!   I think we had a very successful class and we hope our students learned alot and had some fun, too!

We had another terrific class last week.  I took this picture of two students grabbing their pots with the tongs to put their pieces into the cans.   Unfortunately they were the last pots of the evening to be fired  so when they came out of the cans the students were all ready to head home and so I didn't get pictures of the finished work.  You'll have to take my word for it that they were beautiful!

Currently we are in the middle of our winter Raku class.  This is a 6 week hands on class with the focus mainly on learning to fire the Raku kiln.  Students make their own pieces whether handbuilt or wheel thrown, glaze and fire them.  We have a wonderful group of students and they have created some beautiful pieces.

Above - I managed to get this shot of one of our students moving his piece from the hot kiln into the can.  The image below is the finished mask!  It's wonderful!  We love watching students create these beautiful pieces!

Sarah Creek Potters 2nd Annual Reunion Show

Our big event this spring is our 2nd Annual Sarah Creek Potters Reunion Show which we will hold here in our studio/showrrom on Friday, March 25 from 5-9 pm, and Saturday , March 26 from 10-5 pm.    We did this last year and had so much fun we decided to make it an annual event.  This event will feature current work by potters Elizabeth Krome and Marshall Turner as well and Bill and me.  We gathered recently to plan the event and took this picture of our work.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate a little more this year and let me line the driveway Friday night with luminaries!
